Follow the formula: 2 Goods + 1 Improvement = A successful method of delivering an evaluation.
Many toastmasters have a hard time giving evaluations. Let me tell you a secret, everyone can do better and everyone can do worse. It is not our job of an evaluator to tell you that you are the best speaker in the world, nor is it the job of the evaluator to tell you that you are the worst speaker in the world. The job of the evaluator is to look critically at your speech, tell you what they thought was good and then what they thought needed improvement.
That is it. Anything more and you start to summarize the speech. Get up there, know the objectives, tell them what they did well in relation to their objectives, and then tell them what needs improvements. Rinse and repeat.
That is all there is to a good evaluation.
Follow the formula to evaluation success.
Happy speaking,
Chris
