I was hosting Dietmar Wagenknecht (Region V ID) at a CSCMP conference this weekend, and he had a great idea for how to come up with speech ideas. Grab your purse or wallet and look into it.
What is in there? Can you write or speak about it?
Take for example your drivers license. What sort of stories can you think of that involve your Driver License?
You could talk about the last time you had to wait in line to get it renewed, how much you lie about your weight, or strange experiences you had at a bar when you showed them your driver license. You see, the first things you pull out there are multiple potential stories or speeches.
The point of his description was simple. There are speech ideas and blog post ideas all around us. The secret is looking for them. Take some time to look around, pull out your wallet, or just look on your desk. What can you talk about? Write it down now. What sticks?
In no time you can come up with tons of great ideas for speeches.
Just look around you!
